BYO PRINT FILE? Supplying your own Press Ready PDF artwork files?
Should you wish to provide your own artwork for print jobs, they must be completed, press-ready electronic files, adhering to our print requirements. Any time that our designers will need to spend to meet our print requirements will incur a design charge. We accept files from most major professional design programs.
We support and operate on a PC platform. We prepare our artwork and output final files through CorelDraw 16 (X6).
We can accept files created on PC, using the following programs and formats:
-
Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) [NB: We cannot alter PDF files]
-
Adobe Illustrator - up to CS5 (.ai and .eps)
-
Adobe Indesign - up to CS5 (.indd)
-
CorelDraw - up to V16 (.cdr)
-
Adobe Photoshop - up to CS5 (.psd, .eps or .tif)
Please remember to supply any linked images & fonts with your final artwork.
We cannot accept files from the following programs as press-ready files:
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Powerpoint or Microsoft Excel.
These files can be supplied as a design guide only, and our designers will need to re-create/typeset this artwork before job can be printed. The hourly rate for graphic design will apply, with a minimum charge of half hour $45.00.
If you are emailing your job to us, please ensure that you have given us a clear brief of the job specifications, and your contact details. Our designers will then phone you to confirm details, before starting on your layout. We will then forward you a final proof to approve before we commence with printing, as we cannot proceed without your confirmed approval.
Please remember that the final checking of all files supplied for printing is your responsibility.
Print Vision takes no responsibility for any errors in setup, colour, spelling, layout etc, and no free re-prints will be offered.
When supplying a press-ready file for printing, please ensure the following setup is carried out:
-
We require a 3mm bleed to be placed on artwork, where the colour goes to the edge of the page.
-
We require all artwork placed 1-up on a single page document.
-
We require the page size to be setup as the finished document size.
-
We require all text to be converted to outlines or curves. If this is not possible, please supply fonts as separate files with your print job.
-
We require all logos to be supplied in vector format (.eps, .ai or .cdr) to achieve high quality printing
-
We require all images to be supplied in CMYK, at least 300dpi. If you layout your artwork in a bitmap editor, such as Photoshop, it is vital that you begin your artwork on an 800dpi work area to obtain maximum image and text clarity on final production. If it is less than 800dpi, we are unable to guarantee the sharpness of your text. We do not recommend typesetting your files in Photoshop or similar, we recommend that you import you edited photos in to a vector based illustration program such as Illustrator, Corel Draw or Indesign, and finish the layout in that program.
-
We require all colours nominated correctly in your artwork as PMS or CMYK, and that the colours are relevant to the job you are submitting. We recommend the use of Pantone colour charts to assist you in correct colour allocation. Please ensure there are no CMYK colours in PMS jobs, and vice versa.
If your print job is urgent, please check that your deadline is achievable with our staff, and ensure that you have all files press-ready. If our designers need to spend time on your job before printing, we may require additional time, which will affect our ability to meet your deadline.
All supplied files must conform to these specifications. If your file does not conform, we will contact you to explain the specific problems. You will need to correct the issue on your artwork, and re-supply the ammended file. Please check our website for templates of job sizes and layout details. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call us.
